Last week, I was in Toronto for some training and the sessions were responsible for a shift in my thinking. I returned full of vigour thinking about how I would action what I took in. I met a dozen new colleagues who are terrific people. All educated, high achieving professionals with busy lives and struggles like everyone else. Mothers, Fathers sons and daughters. We all hit it off with much in common, education notwithstanding.  I think we were meta data’ed to meet.

We are living in the digital revolution and I couldn’t be more excited and afraid. I love Facebook but haven’t really embraced twitter and LinkedIn to the same engagement. Twitter is full of hate and humour and LinkedIn was a bit boring for me.

Upon my return however, I decided I was going to hit LinkedIn and connect with everyone whose name I recognized. It was nearly 500 people! I can’t believe how many people I have crossed paths with over the years. Mostly through radio but a few even before I got in the biz. It was pretty exciting actually.

I saw a post on the benefits of blogging. It hit me like a tonne of bricks. And I remember my buddy Fred Paterson telling me years ago that blogging was good for many things. Keeps your writing skills up, allows you to puke on paper and release the stuff you’re keeping in.

Guess what?

Welcome to my blog. I realize I have so much in my life to write about and not much time, figuratively to say it. It won’t be political commentary, it won’t be angry old white guy…..I’m not not old and it won’t be negative. Well maybe I’ll be frustrated from time to time.

So that’s it…..hit the champagne bottle on the bow and we’re off. Even if it’s just for me…..should be fun.
